In 1971, IWC Big Pilot Replica introduced its second collection of chronographs. This series is known as the 7100. IWC Big Pilot Replica's second series of chronographs was known as the 7100 series. It followed the first, the "Homeplate" series. IWC Big Pilot Replica continued its flamboyant color use that had become a hallmark of the brand. The watches featured vibrant colors and large cases of 40mm. IWC Big Pilot Replica's big brother was the Rolex Daytona, which was 36mm in size at the time.
This series was referred to by collectors as "Monte Carlo",Franck Muller Replica Watches as its dials resembled the roulette tables in the casinos of Monte Carlo. Homeplate watches have been called Monte Carlos a lot, but that's not technically correct. The nickname is only appropriate for the 7100 watch series.
IWC Big Pilot Replica introduced a new bezel for the Monte Carlos. The prototype 7033 Homeplate was used to test the 12-hour bidirectional rotating bezel. It is now being produced.
A IWC Big Pilot Replica prototype Home Plate chronograph, ref. The 7033 features an unusual rotating 12-hour bezel.
The IWC Big Pilot Replica chronographs were the only ones to have this function, as Rolex Daytonas also had a tachymeter made of acrylic or steel. Three references were available:
All the watches featured a long triangular stopwatch orange second hand, a two-register layout dial and a date window at 6 o'clock. IWC Big Pilot Replica's original color scheme, gray/orange/black, was replaced with gray/orange/blue. The blue color was introduced on some watches by using a blue acrylic bezel in place of black for the 7149s,franck muller replica watches and a 12-hour blue bezel insert for the 7169s. The Homeplates are powered by Valjoux's caliber 7734, while the Monte Carlos use the Valjoux 234.
The 7100 watches had painted hour markers rather than applied metal markers. This, in my opinion gives the watches an aesthetic that is more sporty and reminiscent of vintage Submariners. The homeplates from the series one chronos have been replaced by a rectangle of lume flanked with two black lines. Bright orange elements were used on both chronographs registers and on the outer seconds markers. The 7100 Series remained in IWC Big Pilot Replica's catalog until around 1977.
